Tanavoli’s work

Parviz Tanavoli is a Canadian visual artist whose work was recently confiscated by Iranian authorities. While much of her work was created in Iran, she also creates pieces in her studio in Vancouver. The artist lives in Horseshoe Bay, a community of immigrants, and focuses her artistic efforts there. She wakes up early for a walk by the sea, and spends hours in her studio and library. She draws inspiration from her extensive collections of textiles.

Anish Kapoor’s painting As if to Celebrate

As an avowed multi-culturalist, Anish Kapoor’s work has been celebrated in the ever-widening art world. But in spite of his success, the artist remains adamant that celebrating Western art is denying his own work. In As if to Celebrate, he pushes the limits of painting and sculpture. This exhibition presents works from his extensive studio practice, as well as the artist’s relationship to different mediums.

Jacques Villegle’s collage technique

In the early 1950s, Jacques Villegle began producing art, collecting found objects and ripping advertising posters from the streets of Saint-Malo. This method was instrumental in creating his acclaimed “Ultra-Lettrist” hypergraphics. Villegle also published a poem by Camille Bryen, titled Heperile Eclate, which is unreadable through the grooves of glass.
